December Self-Care Challenge Day 27: The Great Outdoors!

The Days after Christmas can feel strange, almost as if you are still waiting for something to happen but you are not sure what. There is, of course, New Years Eve and Day to look forward to, but I’m never sure if that’s what it is or if it is something else. It’s as if we may not be ready for all the merriment and gathering to end.

So don’t let it!

Today invite friends and/or family to do something fun outdoors with you today.

I suggested sledding because honestly, it my favorite thing to do in the winter, but there are so many other options.

  • Snowshoeing

  • Walks in the snow

  • Snow fights

  • Build a snowman

  • Skiing

  • Cross country skiing

  • Build a winter fort

  • Host a winter outdoor fire and cuddle up under blankets with some smores or hot cocoa.

Or anything else you can think of!

If you don't live in a place that has snow what are some things you can do today with friends outside?

When I lived in Oregon we rarely had snow and when we did it was more ice sheets and we were stuck indoors. But if we could make it outside my friends and I enjoyed ourselves in multiple ways such as

  • Hiking

  • Walking around downtown Portland and looking at all the festive lights and decorations

  • Going out and having a winter picnic (brrrr)

  • Going to the Portland Zoo to witness the Christmas display

  • Walking around the winter gardens

  • and so many more!

The key is to do it with people you enjoy. So today go out and breathe in that frosty air and enjoy!
