Julie’s Bio:

Julie is an Earth loving, tree hugging mama and wife. She and her husband, Jim, communally live with their daughter, Lilac Rain, and soon to be son-in-law, Eli, on their small chunk of property in Black Mountain, NC. Julie is a crocheter turned avid knitter, who loves audiobooks, hiking the mountains, and spending time with her family going to see live music. Julie admires the old time, Appalachian mountain folk ways and looks to the past for solutions to navigate modern day living.



Cleaning Recipes

Glass and Flour Cleaner

  • 1/2 cup vinegar

  • 1-1/2 cup water

Counter Top / Shower / Sinks / Toilets

  • 1/2 cup vinegar

  • 1-1/2 cup water

  • 10 to 15 drops of essential oil such as peppermint, tee tree oil, lemon, or lime

Shower and Stove Degreaser

  • 1/2 cup warmed vinegar

  • 1/2 cup dawn dish soap

  • Spray and allow to soak for at least 30 mins

  • Julie recommends dabbing some baking soda onto a wet rag for extra scrubbing power when wiping away.

Cleaning solution recipe

  • in a large mason jar add 2 lemons cut up

  • fill to top with vinegar and allow to sit for 1-2 weeks before use.

  • Cooking large batches to eat over the week

  • Homemade bread

  • Stalk the clearance areas of stores and bulk up

Julie
  • Tips on saving money- Paperless paper towels, using jars for storage (food, pantry items, etc), buying second hand, using what you have to avoid expiration dates, how to look at common items and try to reduce cost (ex. A trip to starbucks is $7. If you go twice a week, you,ll spend $60.62 a month, which is $727.44 a year on Starbucks. Make coffee at home and use travel mug.)
